This project, completed during a semester abroad in Tokyo, Japan, explores the adaptive reuse of an abandoned building situated in the heart of Akihabara—a globally recognized hub for anime culture. Akihabara provides a sense of refuge and belonging to a unique community, and this project delves into the cultural dynamics that sustain it. The design approach envisions the space as an evolving framework, offering an open canvas for the community to shape and reinterpret according to their needs. Rather than a static architectural intervention, the project aspires to foster an adaptable and transformative environment that resonates with the ever-changing identity of the neighborhood.
